The expansion of 5G network for telecom in India is happening very fast. We have come to know from the latest data of Indian Telecom Department that till March 5, 2023, our country’s telecom operators have deployed a total of 1 lakh 02 thousand 215 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in India. In details, if we talk about a BTS, a base transceiver station is a piece of equipment that serves to provide wireless communication between a user equipment (UE) and a mobile user’s network.. UE here refers to equipment such as smartphones, WLL phones, computers with wireless internet connectivity or antennas mounted on towers.
If we talk about the statistics of deploying BTS, then according to statistics, the state of Maharashtra is at the forefront of deploying 15 thousand 394 5G BTS in the country. After this comes the number of Uttar Pradesh, where 10 thousand 360 5G BTS have been deployed. After this, 8 thousand 358 BTS have been deployed in Gujarat. In December last year, Union Minister of State for Telecom Devsingh Chauhan had told in Parliament that telecom companies are deploying about 2500 base stations every week for 5G and it can be further accelerated.
As we all know that the rollout of 5G started in the country from October last year. The country’s big mobile operators companies Jio and Airtel are at the forefront of this. Both these big companies are installing their 5G standalone (SA) and nonstandalone (NSA) networks very fast. So far, 5G network has been launched in more than 500 cities in the country.
According to Jio, its 5G services have so far reached 331 cities in the country. On Tuesday, on the day of Holi, the service of Jio’s 5G network was started in 27 more cities. On the other hand, Airtel has also recently launched 5G services in 125 cities. And the company also claims that its 5G Plus services have now reached over 265 cities. Both Jio and Airtel are rolling out their 5G services very fast.
Jio’s Bhui says that its goal is to provide 5G service to every city and town in India by December 2023. And Airtel, on the other hand, has said that it will provide 5G services to all cities, towns and rural areas of the country by March 2024.
